Tinners Forest
The land at Cleers, near Roche was acquired by co2balance in November 2006. The land had previously been sown with a typical pasture seed mix and had been managed in such a way as to produce a monoculture that did little for biodiversity. Afforestation of the land commenced in winter 2006/2007
The land and trees will remain in the ownership of co2balance and will be managed for the benefit of clients, the climate, the environment and the local community in perpetuity.
Directions to Tinners Forest
These directions are intended to make it easy to visit the co2balance woodland ‘Tinners Forest’ near Roche in Cornwall. The woodland is open daily from 10am-4pm except by prior arrangement. The OS ref is SW 976 591
On arrival at the woodland, please remember this is a sensitive area intended for wildlife and community use. Please close all gates, be as quiet as possible and take all litter home. Dogs are allowed if kept under strict control.
Directions from the A30
- Leave the A30 on Goss Moor at the B3274 signposted Roche;
- Follow the B3274 for about a mile;
- Enter Roche;
- Right at mini roundabout signposted St Austell/St Dennis;
- Take first right in village centre (Cleers Hill) signposted St Dennis/Nanpean;
- Stay on this road for about 1 mile, going over a small bridge (River Fal);
- The access track to Tinners Forest is then the next turning on your right;
- Follow the track around to the right and park in the first gateway on your right;
- Walk due east through the first field to the first part of the plantation.
Summer 2007
After a very wet summer the trees are looking strong and healthy.
First Tree Plant
The first tree plant took place at the end of January and early February 2007 at Tinners Forest.
